Philly Beer Week First Weekend Roundup

Well the first weekend of Philly Beer Week was pretty awesome.  I had the opportunity to serve my beers at Opening Tap and at Beer Camp.  It was also great to meet some other new nanobrewers and people who want to open breweries, including St. Boniface, Round Guys, Mellody Brewing and Urban Brewing. At each of my events one of my beers seemed to go over really well with the crowd, I was proud to come in 2nd place in the voting at Beer Camp for my Transcontinental, my take on the California “Steam” beer and the one I hope to have as my signature beer when I launch.  Honestly when I first got there and tasted the other brewer’s beers I was hoping just to place, there were some seriously good brews there.  One important take away I got from the events – besides kegs and case it will be legal for me to sell growler fills at my brewery.  What this means is tours will definitely occur more frequently now that I can actually make some money on them.  That also means getting glasses and growlers designed is a priority.  As are t-shirts, it seemed I was the only brewery at opening tap without one.  There is still a whole week of beer week left, and I have one more event on Thursday with Mellody Brewing that I am looking forward to.  Now it is time for me to head out and get a beer….
